ABOUT
Phillip Sample (b. 2006) is a Black American sculptor that uses a wide range of materials, including found objects, wood, ceramic and forged steel. His art is informed by his love of hiking and nature photography. Taking inspiration from the complex colors and animals seen in his local environment of Lansdowne, Pennsylvania. His work is not defined by the exploration of how nature can help us answer questions about our future and place in society.
His most recent exhibition Open The Door: A Journey of Self Discovery was about my experience of how I find my identity.
Examples of photographs I’ve taken that inspire and inform my practice.
